Lowestoft Town Council is in the process of developing its internal structures and recruiting the staff to enable to council to carry out its duties for the people of Lowestoft.  The first two key people that we are looking for are a Town Clerk and a Deputy Town Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer.  The Town Clerk will be the senior member of council staff and the Deputy will be mainly responsible for the council’s finance as well as covering for the Town Clerk as required.  Both of these roles will be instrumental in the development of this brand new council and helping the elected councillors serve, promote and work for Lowestoft.

Silver Sunday

7 September 2017

The 1st of October is Silver Sunday. This is a national initiative that is described (on their website) as an opportunity to ‘pause and think about older people and celebrate their contribution to society’ with the aim of drawing attention to the problem of loneliness amongst older people. Past events – all of which have been free of charge to participants – have included a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Silver circuit training, Zumba classes, cricket, ballet, martial arts and tea dances. Other ideas include dance lessons, theatre trips, museum tours, coffee mornings or intergenerational activities organised in conjunction with schools – anything goes as long as it brings older residents together. You can find out more at https://silversunday.org.uk/.
