Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens is a park located on Kirkley clifftop, in the heart of the Lowestoft seafront. Within the park there are 4 public-use tennis courts, 2 bowling greens and a boating lake. With a friendly tearooms and café with indoor and outdoor seating, overlooking the bowling greens. Perfect for the summer with an additional ice cream kiosk. The boating lake canoes are available all-year around (weather permitting), and can be booked by calling 01502 219690 or by visiting Kensington Gardens Tea Rooms.

As part of the #LoveParks Week 2023 campaign, Lowestoft Town Council partnered with Get Suffolk Reading to create a story trail around the gardens.  The trail can be downloaded from the Get Suffolk Reading website, or by scanning the QR codes in the gardens.  Paper copies of the story trail are also available from the Kensington Gardens Tea Rooms.

Virtual Walking Project:

Join in the Lowestoft Mile, a new virtual walking project, funded by the Lowestoft and Northern Parishes Community Partnership; the Lowestoft Mile currently comprises four virtual walks around the local area, filmed using 360 virtual reality and drone footage. Developed by the East Suffolk Communities Team, all the walks are approximately one mile and are designed especially for people who are unable to leave their homes, including elderly people and those with health conditions. However, they are available for everyone to enjoy.

A calming virtual 360 walk along Lowestoft seafront and Kensington Gardens in Suffolk. This walk covers the southern section of Lowestoft's beaches, visiting a range of prominent historical locations along the way. Starting at Wellington Gardens, the walk continues south down the esplanade and passes notable sights such as Claremont Pier and Kensington Gardens. The walk also includes a range of historical facts about the town of Lowestoft and its beaches and fishing industry along the way.

Full details of this project are available on the Lowestoft Mile website.
